5 Tips To Get The Most Out Of Your Bleisure Getaway In 2023

Blog title

If there is one thing we love at TravelManor, it’s helping our clients find a way to create pockets of fun and adventure when they head off on corporate journeys. Bleisure is a hot trend at the moment, and whether you choose to enjoy some personal exploration time before, after or in between work engagements, there is a lot to be said for this innovative mode of travelling.

1. Keep Your Company In The Loop

To pave the way for an enjoyable leisure experience, it’s best to inform your company of your plans to add on some personal journey time when you head off to represent them elsewhere, whether that be locally or abroad. Most companies will be 100% happy for you to enjoy some downtime while you travel on their behalf, but it’s best practice to communicate this from the outset.

2. Don’t Overtravel

When we go somewhere new, it can be tempting to try and see, do and experience as much as possible. However, if your bleisure trip is on the shorter end, we always recommend keeping your travel radius on the shorter side as well. If you try to travel too far or fit in a few different destinations on a compact timeline, you will only end up spending most of your time in transit. Instead, pick one or two destinations, and really experience them while you are there.

3. Get A Move On

Speaking of experience - one of the best ways to really encounter a new destination is to set off on foot. Of course, not every country, city or town is equally safe, but with insights from your travel planner, you can pinpoint areas where a walking tour, or even a solo discovery jaunt, will allow you to drink in some of the local colours firsthand.

4. Ask A Local Where To Eat

Always try and eat where the locals eat. It’s all good and well to opt for an international franchise brand you know from home, but getting a taste of what the locals love to eat and drink is yet another way to broaden your horizons as you travel.

5. Plan For At-Home Downtime

We like to encourage our clients to leave a day or two available for downtime at home before they have to return to work. This allows them to unpack, rest and recover from any lingering jetlag before they head back to the office.

Keep these five tips from our seasoned travel team in mind the next time you jet off on a rewarding work trip. It’s stood all of us in good stead as we journey around the globe, and we’re sure that you will get a lot of benefits from it too.
